Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage ranging from $40/hr. to $50/hr., depending on experience and qualifications. With a sign-on bonus of $5,000.00.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of motor winders, adjusting priorities to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, training, and mentorship to team members on AC and DC motor winding and repair processes.
  • Monitor workflow, workmanship, and productivity while promptly communicating staffing, material, quality, or scheduling concerns to management.
  • Review work orders, winding data, specifications, and technical drawings to confirm repair requirements and proper procedures.
  • Cut out, clean, and evaluate stators and armatures from failed AC and DC motors, including medium-voltage equipment.
  • Remove, label, and document coils, leads, insulation materials, and winding data to support accurate rebuilds.
  • Inspect core laminations and document visual, electrical, and mechanical findings to help determine repair scope.
  • Manufacture, form, and shape coils using the appropriate winding techniques, tools, materials, and specifications.
  • Measure, cut, and install slot paper, phase insulation, coils, and related materials in accordance with winding data sheets and quality standards.
  • Tie, lace, connect, trim, solder, and insulate coil ends and leads using industry-standard practices.
  • Perform and oversee electrical testing, including surge and resistance testing, to verify winding integrity and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex winding, insulation, connection, and testing issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare motors for varnish processes and operate bake ovens in accordance with established operating and safety procedures.
  • Set up and execute Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) cycles, including vacuum and pressure stages.
  • Review and maintain accurate documentation of winding data, testing results, VPI cycles, inspections, and quality checks.
  • Perform and support mechanical assembly activities, including the installation of bearings, end bells, and related motor components.
  • Monitor winding materials and supplies and communicate inventory or purchasing needs to management.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and used safely.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment that complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist management with employee training, performance feedback, process improvements, and adherence to established shop standards.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, electrical coursework, or related certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of motor-winding experience, including experience with AC and DC motors; medium-voltage experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous lead, training, or mentoring experience in a motor repair or industrial service environment preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical principles, motor components, winding configurations, and insulation systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete and troubleshoot complex motor-winding repairs independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret winding data sheets, work orders, technical drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Advanced experience with coil manufacturing, installation, insulation, connection, and varnish processes.
  • Proficiency in electrical testing methods, including surge and resistance testing, and the ability to interpret test results.
  • Experience operating winding machines, bake ovens, VPI systems, and related shop equipment.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, coordinate multiple assignments, and maintain production and quality expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, kneel, and handle motor components.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and material-handling equipment required for the position.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and varnish fumes while wearing required personal protective equipment.
