Job Overview:
The Dance Instructor is a part-time position located at the Boulder Point, 0 Boulder Hill Pass, Montgomery, IL. This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor – Dance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Instruct ballet and pointe classes for various levels and age according to program curriculum and prepare lesson plans
- Ability to create choreography, select appropriate music, and assist at dance recitals
- Ability to evaluate dance participants and make recommendations for improvement
- Train, supervise, and motivate participants by being creative, positive, and enthusiastic
- Communicate with dance participants and parents
- Meet deadlines on costume forms, dancer evaluations, availability forms and other administrative requests
- Assisting in marketing and promoting the dance program
- Ability to teach ballet from beginner to advanced level
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Formal training in ballet (Vaganova, Cecchetti, RAD, or equivalent)
- Preferred degree in Dance Education and/or experience of at least two years as a dance instructor
- Ability to work independently and as a team member of the dance staff
