DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: The Accounting and Finance team contributes to the mission by serving as trusted stewards of financial resources, partnering across the organization to ensure financial accuracy, accountability, and compliance—guided by integrity and intentionality to support the OSU Foundation's mission and amplify the impact of donor generosity.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Accounting Intern is responsible for assisting the accounting department in recording, reporting, and monitoring financial resources of the Foundation.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
Processing Invoices from the University – 80%
- Initial review of invoices in Emburse Enterprise, ensuring proper signatures are obtained.
- Assist with Accounts Payable Check Run processed on Monday and Wednesday
- Assist with Accounts Payable EFT processed on Friday
- Collaborate with Campus Partners to resolve issues
Data Entry and Record Management – 10%
- Support annual audits by gathering documentation requested by auditors
- Prepare and maintain reports related to Accounts Payable activity
- Export data for project management review
Scanning and Other Activities – 10%
- Scanning of documents
- Research projects and reconciling excel worksheets
- Other projects and duties as assigned
JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Education, Certifications and Experience-
- In pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or finance, with a strong academic record.
Job Competencies-
- Strong reading comprehension and problem-solving capabilities
- Must possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- High ethical and professional standards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via video conferencing. Requires frequent repetitive motions when operating computers, telephones, and standard office equipment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to approximately 20 pounds.
