People Operations Generalist

We’re looking for a People Operations Generalist to keep our HR operations running smoothly and help us foster a vibrant, connected culture across our growing team.
This role is primarily operational, and the right person will be comfortable juggling onboarding, offboarding, benefits, billing, compliance, and documentation — all while keeping a pulse on the employee experience and contributing to a strong sense of community.
Day-to-Day HR Operations:
- We’re looking for someone with 3–7 years of HR operations experience (start-up or fast-paced environments a plus)
- Manage onboarding: send offer letters and hire packets, run background checks (including E-Verify), and complete I-9 verifications
- Handle all offboarding logistics: termination processing, COBRA, final pay coordination, and benefit terminations
- Maintain and update employee records in our HRIS (BambooHR) and QuickBooks Online
- Conduct new hire orientations and walk employees through benefits, policies, and procedures
- Respond to employee questions via the HR inbox and provide timely, friendly support
- Review and approve time-off requests in BambooHR in accordance with state sick leave policies and internal PTO guidelines
- Assist with documentation and refinement of internal HR processes (Leave of absence, 401k enrollment, Benefits Enrollment, Safety Policies)
- Review leave of absence eligibility and approval, and coordinate appropriate benefits deductions or other arrangements in advance.
- Review and follow internal complaint procedures and conduct thorough investigations as needed. Possess knowledge and experience in employee relations and investigative processes
- Must have experience with employment policies, HR documentation, and state/federal labor law compliance
- Review and complete unemployment notices and requests in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review and process wage garnishment orders, income withholding orders, and ensure compliance with all legal and payroll requirements.
- Maintain accurate and complete personnel files, and conduct regular audits with corrective follow-up as needed
- Support immigration needs by working with employees and legal counsel on H-1B, green card, and other visa processes; track and maintain accurate status records
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and take full ownership of your work.
- Experience with software applications such as BambooHR, DocuSign, Excel, QuickBooks and benefits platforms such as Ease Central or Employee Navigator.
- Understand and apply federal and state overtime regulations to ensure compliance.
Benefits & Payroll Coordination:
- Assist with benefit enrollments, employee changes, invoice reconciliation, and open enrollment support
- Partner with Accounting to provide accurate payroll-related data and updates
- Monitor and review HR/payroll-related billing and ensure accuracy in benefits and deductions
Compliance, Policies & Reporting:
- Prepare, update, and recommend HR policies and procedures in alignment with organizational needs
- Ensure timely reporting for all applicable federal, state, and local requirements across multi-state locations (e.g., payroll tax filings, ACA reports, 401(k) testing, time off/sick leave reports, etc.)
- Help keep our team compliant by managing state UI accounts, state tax registrations, and other filings as needed.
Culture & Engagement:
- Plan and support employee engagement events, coffee chats, and team-building activities
- Be a friendly, visible presence in team meetings and company gatherings
- Help promote a connected and inclusive company culture by staying involved with employees

Nice-to-Haves:

Location: Campbell, CA (Hybrid Schedule)
Type: Full-Time
Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Pacific Time
Salary: $70–90K (Depending on Experience)
