Reports To:
Assistant Superintendent / Director of Curriculum & Instruction
Job Goal:
To lead, coordinate, and ensure the effective implementation of dyslexia screening, intervention, Section 504 services, and district/state assessment programs; ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; and support schools in improving student outcomes through data-driven practices and high-quality instructional support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred)
Valid state teaching license
Certification or endorsement in dyslexia therapy, reading, or related field (preferred)
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
Knowledge of dyslexia law, Section 504 regulations, and state assessment systems
Experience with student data systems, assessment platforms, and compliance processes
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dyslexia Screening & Identification
Oversee district-wide dyslexia screening in accordance with state requirements
Ensure universal screening is conducted with fidelity
Support campuses in identifying students with characteristics of dyslexia
Assist with interpretation of screening and evaluation data
2. Dyslexia Intervention & Instructional Support
Ensure implementation of evidence-based dyslexia intervention programs
Monitor fidelity of intervention delivery across campuses
Support teachers with instructional strategies and accommodations
Provide coaching and technical assistance to interventionists and staff
3. Section 504 Coordination & Compliance
Serve as the district Section 504 Coordinator
Ensure district compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
Develop and maintain district 504 policies, procedures, and documentation systems
Oversee referral, evaluation, eligibility determination, and plan development processes
Ensure appropriate accommodations are implemented and monitored with fidelity
Provide training for staff on Section 504 requirements and best practices
Support campus teams in conducting 504 meetings and maintaining compliance
Serve as liaison for parents regarding 504 services and concerns
4. District Testing Coordination
Serve as the district Testing Coordinator for all state and local assessments
Plan, organize, and oversee administration of state-mandated assessments
Ensure compliance with all testing regulations, procedures, and security protocols
Train campus testing coordinators and staff on testing procedures and expectations
Coordinate testing schedules, materials, and logistics across campuses
Monitor testing environments to ensure standardized administration
Manage secure handling, distribution, and retum of testing materials
Investigate and report any testing irregularities or security concerns
Analyze assessment results and support campuses in data interpretation
5. Compliance & Program Oversight
Ensure district compliance with dyslexia laws, Section 504, and testing regulations
Maintain accurate documentation and records for audits and reporting
Collaborate with special education, curriculum, and federal programs departments
Assist in developing and updating district procedures and guidelines
6. Professional Development
Design and deliver professional development on:
Dyslexia and structured literacy
Section 504 processes and compliance
Assessment administration and data use
Provide ongoing coaching and support to teachers, interventionists, and administrators
7, Data Monitoring & Reporting
Analyze data related to dyslexia, 504 services, and district assessments
Monitor student progress and program effectiveness
Provide regular reports to district leadership
Use data to guide instructional decisions and program improvements
8. Parent & Community Engagement
Serve as a liaison between the district and families
Provide resources and guidance regarding dyslexia services and 504 plans
Support communication around testing and student performance
Facilitate parent meetings and informational sessions
9, Collaboration & Leadership
Collaborate with district and campus leaders to ensure alignment of services
Support principals in implementing programs effectively
Participate in district leadership teams and strategic planning
Stay current on laws, research, and best practices
Additional Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or designee
Working Conditions:
Frequent travel between campuses
Occasional evening meetings (parent meetings, trainings)
