Working Site Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Working Site Superintendent who excels in the field, not just behind a desk - someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, solves problems fast, and is comfortable managing crews, equipment, schedules and entire retaining wall, sea wall and site development projects.
We need a superintendent who knows how to keep work moving, maintain safety and quality standards, anticipate challenges, and ensure the job gets done right the first time.
Daily Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and work alongside field crew members.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and other construction documents.
- Lay out wall alignment, elevations, and grades.
- Operate heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, skid steers, compactors and dozers).
- Ensure daily equipment maintenance is performed.
- Oversee and facilitate excavation, base prep, block installation, drainage, geogrid, backfill and final grade.
- Coordinate crew members, materials, tools and equipment.
- Coordinate an entire project from start to finish with minimal guidance.
- Communicate with the project manager, material suppliers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Prioritize daily tasks.
- Enforce all OSHA and company safety standards.
- Ensure all work meets engineering and manufacturer specifications.
- Track daily production, crew hours, and job progress thru daily reports.
- Maintain strict quality standards.
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve skills and productivity.
- Develop and maintain personal and professional growth.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient job site daily.
Qualifications
- 5 yrs of consecutive experience as a field/working site superintendent in the civil/site development industry.
- 5 yrs consecutive experience operating heavy equipment.
- Ability and knowledge to coordinate entire projects from start to finish with minimal guidance.
- Quickly demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of block walls, drainage systems, base prep, geogrid reinforcement and site development.
- Ability to read blueprints, grades, and site layout plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization and crew management skills.
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in various conditions.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and morals under pressure.
