Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Wire EDM Machinist to join our small machine shop. In this role, you will operate and set up Wire Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) to produce precision metal components with exceptional accuracy. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and various fabrication techniques will be essential in delivering high-quality parts that meet strict specifications. Responsibilities
- Operate, set up, and maintain Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machines to produce complex metal parts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings.
- Program CNC wire EDM equipment using appropriate software to ensure precise cuts and optimal machine performance.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on EDM machinery, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with other machinists to develop and optimize machining processes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
- Document process parameters and outcomes.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations to maintain a safe working environment.
Skills
- 2 years of experience operating and programming EDM machines, specifically Wire EDM and Sinker EDM, in the automotive or aerospace industries.
- Proficiency in operating Wire EDM machines along with experience in electrical discharge machining techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of tooling setup, sheet metal fabrication, and tooling management.
- Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately; knowledge of GD&T principles is essential.
- Skilled in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other quality inspection instruments of machined parts.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and process adjustments; experience with hand tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and quality control processes relevant to aerospace sector and general manufacturing environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly while maintaining high standards of quality.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for programming EDM machines.
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in the aerospace, such as steel, aluminum and specialized alloys.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100 or similar quality management systems.
- Proven track record of improving machining processes and efficiencies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical certification or associates degree in machining, manufacturing technology or relevant field preferred.
Pay: $21.63 - $36.06 per hour
