Summary of Position: Schedule patient appointments for multiple physician teams
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer patient telephone calls in a friendly, helpful and efficient manner
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and appropriately
- Obtain current and accurate demographic patient information and enter into computer
- Return patient messages in a timely manner
- Obtain referrals and records as needed
- Greets patients courteously
- Check insurance eligibility of patients scheduled
- Communicate with providers regarding their schedules, meetings, etc.
- Communicate with other teams regarding ERs and consults
- Maintain provider schedules including developing/updating templates as needed, entering meetings
- Reschedule provider schedules when appropriate
- Cover scheduling duties for teams when main scheduler is out
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Credentials and Skills:
- Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate clearly and
professional with coworkers, patients, insurance companies and physician office personnel.
- Knowledge of personal computer and software, fax, copier required.
- Physical skills: required to sit for extended periods of time, walk, stand, kneel, bend intermittently, talk and hear. Occasionally pushing, pulling and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties, shifting suddenly to new tasks as priorities change, adjusting work schedule to reflect changing situations and requirements, use time effectively.
- Ability to maintain a positive image and composure telephone conversations and in office under stressful situations.
- Ability to work as a team member of various groups and multi-disciplinary problem solving teams.
- Ability to hear and communicate via telephone with patients and staff.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, work independently without close supervision and respond to concerns with other with tact.
- Ability to manage and multiple priorities under stress.
- Ability to concentrate in busy work area.
