What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Legal Secretary position at Orthopaedic Center of South Florida?
Job Responsibilities
- Maintains the physician schedules for depositions, conferences, trials, call schedules and vacations.
- Prepare IME, Expert Witness, and Second Opinion charts for the physicians.
- Receive all records for IME, Expert Witness, and Second Opinion patients, make sure that they are put together properly for the physician to review.
- Review the physician schedule weekly for upcoming meetings, conferences, depositions, and trials; prepare the necessary paper work ahead of the scheduled event.
- Ensure proper payment for depositions, conferences, telephones conferences, etc. and then give the check to the appropriate personnel for posting.
- Obtains any necessary information the adjusters or case managers need for payment.
- Speak with adjustors, attorneys, etc. to schedule appointments, IME’s, etc.
Education/ Experience
- HS, Associates Degree or equivalent experience
- 1 years’ experience as a Medical/Legal Secretary
- Experience with subpoenas, trials, depositions, IME’s, Expert Witnesses, LOP’s, etc.
Required Knowledge/ Skills
- Strong knowledge of EHR, using Allscripts PM and Exscribe EHR system knowledge a plus
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and a team-player
- Possess a positive attitude, self-starter with good customer service focus
- Ability to multi-task and solve problems
- Knowledge of Workers Comp, PIP, and all major Health Insurances
- Ability to speak with adjustors, attorneys, etc.
