What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Lead Orthodontic Assistant | Grow Into a Leadership Position position at Orthodontic Practice?
Job Description
We are hiring a Clinical Lead to take ownership of our clinical operations and elevate our team to the next level. Our modern orthodontic clinic has two locations in Sammamish and Bellevue. You will lead a team of 5 clinical assistants. We specialize in creating beautiful smiles, connecting with people, and serving our community. If you're a seasoned orthodontic assistant ready to step into a leadership role and shape how a high-performing clinical team operates — come join us.
Position Summary
The Clinical Lead is the backbone of daily clinical operations at PORTH. This person works directly with the orthodontist (Dr. Rooz Khosravi) to ensure exceptional patient care, manage clinical workflow, train and mentor assistants, and maintain the standards that define our clinic.
This is not just a senior assistant role — it's a leadership position. You will be responsible for the performance, growth, and morale of the clinical team. You'll set the tone on the floor, resolve issues in real time, and serve as the bridge between the doctor and the rest of the team.
This position is full-time, requiring 35-40 hours per week. The schedule includes some evening hours Tuesday through Friday, and two partial Saturdays per month. Compensation is based on experience and leadership capability. The clinic schedule is determined annually.
Who Should NOT Apply
- This job is not for someone who has to commute more than 60 mins to both clinics (Sammamish or Bellevue).
- This job is not for someone who avoids difficult conversations or conflict resolution.
- This job is not for someone who prefers to follow rather than lead.
- This job is not for someone who struggles working with people of different personalities, backgrounds, and communication styles.
- This job is not for someone who can't stay calm and decisive under pressure.
- This job is not for someone who views leadership as a title rather than a responsibility.
- This job is not for someone uncomfortable giving and receiving direct feedback.
- This job is not for someone who can't catch up with a high-paced training program.
- This job is not for someone uncomfortable with technology and digital workflows.
- This job is not for someone who lacks empathy and compassion — for patients and for the team.
- This job is not for someone who cannot meet strict deadlines or hold others accountable to them.
- This job is not for someone who is not driven to push the boundaries.
- This job is not for someone looking for a part-time or 9-5 job.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead daily clinical operations across both locations, ensuring smooth patient flow, quality standards, and team coordination. You are the person the team looks to when things get busy or complex.
- Train, mentor, and develop clinical assistants. Onboard new hires, run skill-building sessions, and provide ongoing coaching. You'll help build the next generation of assistants at PORTH.
- Assist with direct patient care alongside the orthodontist — including chairside assisting, intraoral scanning, radiographic and photographic imaging, and appliance management.
- Manage clinical workflow and protocols. Own the systems that keep the clinic running — sterilization protocols, instrument management, supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and compliance with OSHA and WISHA standards.
- Navigate complex situations with confidence. Whether it's a patient concern, a scheduling conflict, a team disagreement, or an equipment issue — you handle it. You de-escalate, problem-solve, and keep things moving.
- Serve as the communication bridge between Dr. Khosravi and the clinical team. Translate the doctor's vision into daily execution. Surface team concerns upward. Ensure alignment across both locations.
- Champion the culture. You set the emotional tone on the clinic floor. You model professionalism, positivity, accountability, and patient-first thinking — every single day.
Our clinic primarily provides personalized digital orthodontic care driven by highest technoloy.
Additional leadership training and advanced clinical skills development will be provided to the right candidate.
