Job Summary
The Inside Sales Representative at Orthman Conveying Systems (OCS) plays a key role in supporting the company's sales operations and customer relationships. This position focuses on managing customer inquiries, preparing accurate quotations, and coordinating order fulfillment for Orthman's line of conveyor systems, bulk material handling equipment, and related components. The role requires technical aptitude, strong communication skills, and a customer-first attitude to ensure exceptional service and timely delivery of solutions.
Education and Experience
- Higher education in Business, Marketing, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of inside sales or customer service experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Experience with bulk material handling systems is highly desirable.

Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems for quotes and order management.

Primary Job Duties
- Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming customer inquiries related to conveyor systems, components, and replacement parts.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and application details to prepare detailed and accurate quotes.
- Support the outside sales team with technical information, documentation, and follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Enter and maintain all customer data, quotes, and orders within the company's ERP/CRM systems.
- Follow up on quotations to convert opportunities into sales and maintain strong sales pipeline.
- Coordinate with accounting to assist in resolving billing, payment, or credit issues.
- Provide regular updates to management on quote activity, order status, and customer feedback.
- Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and introducing new OCS products or services.
- Represent OCS professionally in all interactions with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Performance Metrics
- Quote-to-order conversion rate

- Accuracy and timeliness of quotes and order entry.
Work Context
- Works in a standard office environment with regular use of computers, phones, and other office equipment.
- Required to enter the production area, which can be noisy and is not climate controlled.
- Proper personal protective equipment (PPE), such safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
- This position may also require occasional travel for training, customer visits, or trade shows.
