What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyer position at ORS Partners?
Role Overview
An established New Jersey law firm is hiring an Associate Attorney for its Bankruptcy & Restructuring and Litigation Services practices, across Chapter 7, Chapter 11, out-of-court workouts, and state-court insolvency work in federal and state courts.
Results This Role Will Own
Contested Litigation & Court-Facing Execution — own motion practice, discovery, and hearing prep so the practice can take on more without stretching senior attorneys thin.
Debtor/Creditor Case Execution — build real Chapter 7/11 and fiduciary substance from wherever the candidate's background starts.
Client-Facing Trust & Ownership — direct client relationships and courtroom exposure from day one.
Billable Capacity & Practice Growth — sustain the firm's billable standard while building toward the partnership track.
What We're Looking For
NJ Bar admission (or a credible plan to sit), NY Bar a plus. While they prefer someone with a sector experience in bankruptcy, the team is willing to consider a strong commercial litigation experience. First- or second-year attorneys welcome alongside senior litigators looking to specialize, tenure alone doesn't decide it. Stable work history (2 years/firm). Genuine interest in the practice area.
What the Firm Offers
50 years privately held with no PE, and public-plus-private matter variety. Full benefits plus bar fees/dues/CLE/business development coverage, bankruptcy practice with direct partner access, immediate ownership over siloed BigLaw work.
Salary : $120,000 - $170,000
