Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience: monitoring and prioritizing emergency alerts and communications; using emergency management systems such as National Incident Management System (NIMS) to support and track response activities; reviewing documentation and coordinating with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, or international partners during emergencies.
OR
Have a Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree or LL.M. from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have a combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Responsibilities:
As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will:- Handle, triage, and manage call volumes that are received by the CDCEmergency Operations Center (EOC).
- Monitor electronic media including official email traffic and responds to daily and event specific Critical Information Requirements (CIRs) and notifies supervisory leadership when CIRs are triggered.
- Provide the clearance level and communication channel requirements for public health incidents of concern, including biological, chemical, and radiological/nuclear emergencies and natural disasters, may emerge and pose an imminent threat to locations or specific populations at any time.
- Assist higher graded staff in the development of effective plans, procedures, protocols, and templates which permit CDC and its programs to respond to emergencies in a coordinated and proactive manner.
