About the Role
A well-established CPA firm on Long Island is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax generalist who enjoys working with a diverse client base and wants exposure to a variety of tax engagements, along with some audit, review, and compilation work. This is a firm where the 4/15 deadline is the only busy season that requires weekend work and extra hours. Extension season can be addressed with a 40 hour work week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, S corporations, trusts, and other entities.
- Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate completion of client deliverables.
- Research complex tax issues and identify tax planning opportunities for clients.
- Work directly with clients to gather financial information, address questions, and resolve tax-related issues.
- Assist with quarterly estimates, tax projections, and year-end tax planning.
- Participate in financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for a diverse client base.
- Prepare workpapers, supporting schedules, and financial statement documentation in accordance with applicable professional standards.
- Identify accounting and tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients and firm management.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while providing responsive, high-quality service.
- Collaborate with partners and other team members to ensure engagements are completed efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Approximately 3–6 years of public accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on tax.
- Experience preparing individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S.
- Exposure to financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations and general accounting principles.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA license or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
Salary : $90,000 - $150,000
