The Exhibit Technician I position is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of permanent and traveling exhibits at the Orlando Science Center. This position requires computer, electronic, mechanical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Essential Functions
- Starts up or shuts down OSC’s exhibits.
- Routinely performs general cleaning, dusting, and organizing of exhibit components, exhibit halls and shop.
- Proactively identify exhibit weak points and makes recommendations to prevent exhibit downtime to the Manager of Exhibits.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses a range of technologies, including but not limited to PC’s, microcontrollers, input devices, A/V devices, projectors, solid state players, mechanical systems, relays, and software diagnostics.
- Follows established safety protocol when using tools, such as soldering iron, multimeter, and other various hand tools.
- Identifies any exhibit safety issues and immediately reports to the Manager of Exhibits.
- Documents all work in a computer database.
- Able to work independently.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience & Certifications: Minimum of 3 years in related field of PC, A/V or electronic setup and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with hand tools, drills, multimeter and soldering iron is preferred.

- Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 25 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.

Expected Hours of Work & Travel
- This position is full time. Hours can vary based on the needs of the organization.
- This position must be able to work weekends and after hour events as needed.
