Bridges & Heavy Civil Infrastructure
Marine Foundations & Pile Driving
Coastal & Waterfront Infrastructure
Industrial & Marine Facilities
Dredging, Diving & Marine Operations

At Orion, our guiding beliefs and core values are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, with each built upon the foundation of Integrity.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Engineer – Marine Construction provides project engineering and field support for Orion's marine and heavy civil construction projects.

This position works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Surveyors, field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to help ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities include project cost tracking, procurement, subcontractor bid packages, interpreting plans and specifications, scheduling, project documentation, estimating support, coordination of self-perform construction activities, and project closeout.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional looking to continue developing toward Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager-level responsibility while gaining hands-on experience delivering complex self-perform marine construction projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work closely with the Project Management Team to support the successful execution and completion of marine and heavy civil construction projects.

  • Monitor and track project costs including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and services.

  • Assist with project forecasting, cost controls, productivity tracking, and overall project financial performance.

  • Develop bid packages and scopes of work for subcontractors.

  • Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate subcontractor and supplier proposals.

  • Procure subcontractors, permanent materials, consumables, equipment, and services required for project execution.

  • Interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, contracts, and technical requirements.

  • Coordinate project work activities with Superintendents, Foremen, Surveyors, and field crews.

  • Assist with project schedules and short-term construction planning to support project milestones.

  • Interface with project personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, engineers, and other project stakeholders.

  • Support RFIs, submittals, change documentation, quantity tracking, and other project administration activities.

  • Assist with estimating and bid proposals for upcoming marine and heavy civil construction opportunities.

  • Support project startup, execution, documentation, and closeout.

  • Visit active construction sites and participate directly in field operations and project coordination.

  • Promote a safe working environment and ensure project activities comply with Orion safety policies and applicable regulations.

  • Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives supporting compliance with State and Federal regulations.

  • Perform additional project engineering and construction management responsibilities as required.
