Paralegal - Medical Malpractice Defense

Pay: $70,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year

Location: This is an on-site role based in either Shelton, CT or Newtown, CT, depending on the candidate’s preference.

Note: Candidates must have 3 years of litigation paralegal experience. Medical malpractice defense experience is strongly preferred, but we will also consider personal injury paralegals with substantial litigation experience and strong medical records experience.

Job Description

• Support attorneys in medical malpractice defense and professional liability litigation matters
• Review, organize, summarize, and analyze medical records
• Draft, prepare, and manage pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, correspondence, and litigation documents
• Assist with discovery responses, document production, deposition preparation, and trial preparation
• Maintain case files, deadlines, calendars, and litigation materials
• Coordinate with attorneys, experts, clients, courts, and opposing counsel
• Help move cases efficiently from inception through resolution

Qualifications

• 3 years of litigation paralegal experience required
• Medical malpractice defense experience strongly preferred
• Personal injury litigation experience may be considered with strong medical records experience
• Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records required
• Strong organizational, writing, communication, and case management skills
• Experience with discovery, pleadings, depositions, and trial preparation preferred
• Ability to work on-site in Shelton or Newtown, CT
