Insurance Defense Associate Attorney

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Location: This is a hybrid role based in St. Louis, MO, offering a strong balance of in-office teamwork and work-from-home flexibility. Candidates must be licensed in Missouri. Relocation candidates are welcome, but relocation assistance is not provided.

Note: Qualified candidates must be licensed to practice law in Missouri and have at least 2 years of insurance defense experience. Illinois licensure is a plus.

Job Description

• Handle a variety of civil defense and insurance defense litigation matters.
• Work on cases involving transportation liability, premises liability, product liability, general liability, and related defense matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions as appropriate based on experience level.
• Attend court hearings, conferences, mediations, and other case-related proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and develop clear, well-supported legal analysis.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and internal team members.
• Manage deadlines, case strategy, and file workup with strong attention to detail.
• Collaborate with experienced trial attorneys and gain meaningful litigation and courtroom exposure.

Qualifications

• Missouri Bar license required.
• 2 years of insurance defense experience required.
• Civil litigation experience required.
• Experience with transportation liability, premises liability, product liability, or general liability preferred.
• Illinois Bar license is a plus.
• Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skills.
• Highly organized, motivated, and comfortable managing litigation deadlines.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
