Associate Attorney - Litigation Defense

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Location: This is a hybrid position based in Bernardsville, New Jersey, offering flexibility while maintaining regular connection with our litigation team, courts, clients, and case work.

Note: Candidates must be admitted to the New Jersey Bar and have 1-3 years of civil litigation experience. Insurance defense experience is preferred but not required unless directly applicable.

Job Description

• Assist with civil litigation and insurance defense matters from early case development through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal correspondence, and client reports.
• Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy, liability analysis, damages analysis, and case valuation.
• Support depositions, court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
• Communicate with clients, experts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and courts.
• Manage litigation deadlines, case files, discovery responses, and assigned tasks.
• Work closely with senior attorneys while developing greater independence and responsibility.
• Maintain accurate billable time and provide quality client service.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active New Jersey Bar admission in good standing.
• 1-3 years of civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense, general liability, construction litigation, auto liability, products liability, or property damage experience preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Comfortable appearing in court, handling discovery, and communicating professionally with clients and counsel.
• Willingness to travel for hearings, depositions, court appearances, and related case work as needed.
