As a Peer Support Specialist, you may work with clients in a variety of settings including:

STARTING RATE: $17.00 (no certificate upon hire) / $18 (certified upon hire)
As a Peer Support Specialist, you may work with clients in a variety of settings including:
- Correctional Facilities – Provide peer support to individuals preparing for re-entry; assist with recovery planning and linkages to post-release services.
- Recovery Housing – Support clients in building sober routines and accessing resources for employment, health, and daily living.
- Specialty Courts (e.g., Drug or Mental Health Court) – Help participants meet court requirements, attend court and treatment appointments, and stay engaged in recovery.
- Outpatient Programs – Work alongside clinical teams to reinforce treatment goals and provide peer-led recovery support.
- Engage individuals in recovery through outreach and ongoing support, including those who may be hard to reach or hesitant to seek help.
- Build trusted relationships by listening empathetically and offering consistent, compassionate peer support.
- Support client-directed recovery planning by helping clients transition from professional treatment to individualized wellness plans.
- Provide recovery education and coaching, including information on stages of recovery, coping strategies, and navigating daily challenges.
- Connect clients to critical resources such as recovery housing, employment, healthcare, support groups, and 12-step programs.
- Collaborate with treatment providers to reinforce clinical services and encourage sustained recovery through one-on-one, and group support.

- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Peer Support Certification (required within 3 months of hire)
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse client population
