Job Summary

The Division of Extension and Engagement is seeking an Open Campus and Juntos Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position that serves Lane County, Oregon.

This position is located in Eugene, Oregon.

The mission of the OSU Division of Extension and Engagement (division) is to work with communities throughout Oregon to support lifelong learning and co-create innovative solutions to address local challenges. Together, we envision a future where Oregon’s people, communities and ecosystems prosper.

This Open Campus & Juntos Coordinator is a member of the OSU Division of Extension and Engagement’s Partnerships Unit. This coordinator provides local leadership as well as coordinating and fostering partnerships needed to advance and sustain Open Campus and Juntos programs and goals. This individual advances partnerships between Oregon State, University, local school districts within Lane County, as well as Lane Community College and community-based organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders including school districts, community-based organizations, and higher education institutions to increase the programming of Open Campus and Juntos throughout Lane County.
  • Deliver non-credit educational presentations at community events, K-12 schools, and community college partners. Coordinate Open Campus and Juntos program delivery throughout Lane County through building relationships, recruiting into program offerings, marketing programs following OSU guidelines, and performing data collection.
  • Coordinate local college and career opportunities for students interested in attending Oregon State University and other higher education institutions.
  • Provide fiscal management for the Open Campus and Juntos program in Lane County, including budget management, donations, grant management, and local support for programs.
  • Report to the community and other stakeholders on local impacts.
  • Develop and maintain Open Campus and Juntos university and community college partnerships regionally, particularly with Lane Community College.
  • Implement continuous assessment of the community’s educational needs and align identified educational needs with current, changing, and emerging societal trends and resources.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Degree must be completed by the application date.
  • Experience in cross-cultural communication with the ability to engage Spanish speaking audiences through the utilization of bi-literate and bicultural skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish) including effective use of digital communication tools (traditional and web-based) and printed media with both English and Spanish.
  • Experience building collaborations with external organizations and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.
  • Ability to work with audiences from diverse backgrounds and various cultural identities and to build community around culturally relevant programming.
  • General knowledge and ability to use computers, including information technology, professional office software and collaborative work platforms.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to using multiple forms of digital communication systems, including websites, email newsletters, social media, and other tools in a changing technological environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing time demands, while also working as a collaborative member of a geographically separated team.
  • Ability to successfully interact with youth 12-19 years of age (7th through 12th grade) as well as adult learners.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, education administration, adult education, Extension education, or related field.
  • Experience within public education, higher education, vocational education or Extension Service education.
  • Experience providing leadership with the Juntos program or other culturally responsive college access programming.
  • Experience coordinating Extension Service programs.
  • Experience serving Latinx students in Oregon.
  • Experience developing and or delivering curriculum around college access, financial aid, scholarships, or youth development (e.g., College Bound, AVID, ASPIRE).
  • Ability to secure external funding support for educational programs.
  • Ability to use web, social media, or other digital technologies in outreach activities to achieve goals.

Working Conditions/Schedule

Working Conditions/Work Schedule:

The primary work location for this position is the OSU Extension Lane County Office in Eugene, Oregon. A flexible work schedule may be a future option via OSU’s Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement Form, with pre-determined periodic reviews of on-going work for continuation of the agreement.

This position requires flexibility to work in a variety of settings and in the evenings and on weekends.

This position will serve Lane County, Oregon, and travel/driving will be required to meet with Partnerships Unit team and partners, attend trainings and/or unit programs, and to share information about the Partnerships Unit at conferences and other outreach opportunities as well as to fulfill the general work requirements of this position.

Salary Range

$64,200 - $71,000
