What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firefighter/EMT Intern position at Oregon Area Fire and EMS District?

The work of a firefighter and/or EMT can be strenuous work. With it, POP employees will be expected to maintain their ability to perform work as a firefighter and/or EMT.
Essential job duties include:
Respond to fire and/or emergency medical incidents in accordance with district standards.
Complete certification training to a minimum level of Firefighter I and/or EMT.Attend district meetings, schools and training courses in accordance with district standards.
Complete or assist written reports on fire scene activities.Follow the proper departmental chain of command.
Function in high stress situations.
Utilize equipment properly and safely.
Assist in activities pertaining to the fire station duties, cleanup and maintenance as ordered by the Fire Chief or other ranking officer.
Maintain all issued district equipment in good working condition.Be knowledgeable in the areas of fire inspections, fire prevention and building construction.
Obtain other certifications as required or requested.
Perform duties and activities required by local codes and ordinances, state statutes, district policies and guidelines as directed by the Chief or other ranking officer.
Promote good public relations; participate in public talks and related activities as directed.Respectfully represent the district while either on or off duty.
