What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Science position at Ore City Independent School District?
Ore City High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our faculty for 25-26 and beyond.
Courses taught will be Chemistry & Physics or IPC and another science, depending on the applicant's skills and knowledge of the curriculum.
The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging and rigorous instruction in science, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a love for scientific inquiry.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Science (7-12) or the ability to obtain certification.
Experience teaching high school science preferred but not required.
Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and laboratory safety procedures.
Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards for science.
Use innovative and interactive teaching methods, including laboratory experiments, technology integration, and project-based learning.
Assess and monitor student progress through assignments, exams, and formative assessments.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs and English language learners.
Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes inquiry, collaboration, and respect.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding progress.
Participate in professional development, department meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
Serve as a mentor, advisor, or club sponsor as needed to support student engagement beyond the classroom.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a classroom and laboratory setting.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and conduct hands-on laboratory activities.
Must be able to stand, walk, and interact with students for extended periods.
