POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Athletic Director, instructs student-athletes in the fundamentals of flag football, preparing them for competition. The head coach supervises and coordinates all levels of the girls’ flag football program and is responsible for coordinating all administrative, financial, and personnel aspects of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Administer and oversees all levels and functions of the flag football program
- Develop and maintains a high-quality program founded on sound principles of flag football, strong team values, hard work, commitment, loyalty, honesty, respect, and sportsmanship, all to the glory of Jesus
- Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the staff
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities under school policies and applicable laws. Duties include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, coaching, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Approve time cards on schedule; assure assistant coaches comply with school payroll procedures and government wage and hour laws
- Work with performance coaches to plan and direct physical conditioning programs
- Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to the sport.
- Develop off-season training programs and summer opportunities
- Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and expenditures; maintains, and inventories equipment
- Communicate program information to school administration, students, parents, and the community
- Coordinate fundraising activities with the Development Office
- Organize the annual end-of-season Awards Night
- Coordinate transportation needs, assure all drivers comply with school policy; may drive students to away games
- Assist in the development of sports schedules and facility usage
- Recommend policy, method, or procedural changes with the Athletic Director
- Awareness of athletic and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Administers first aid and contacts EMS when appropriate. Promptly reports all sports-related injuries, coordinates with athletic trainers
- Seek student collegiate scholarship opportunities
- Provide instruction to and oversight of student-athletes
- Assure proper supervision of students at all times
- Instruct individuals and teams in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles using lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Adapts methods based on varying student needs
- Provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition
- Establish, explain, monitor, and enforce safety rules and regulations, proper use of equipment
- Plan, lead, organize, and conduct practice sessions
- Monitor student conduct and performance eligibility; establishes rules for behavior; work with Athletic Director, administrators, and faculty to resolve academic and behavioral issues
- Advise students, parents, and assistant coaches
- Evaluate athlete’s skills and performance to determine fitness, potential, placement, and grading
- Attend department and team meetings and required school functions
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administrator

Some experience as an assistant coach at the high school or college level preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or any satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties listed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus, gymnasium, or athletic field
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls
- The employee must occasionally lift to 50 pounds, and bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, push, pull, squat, kneel, twist, or bend
- Specific vision abilities include near and far vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The typical working environment is in an indoor school classroom, gymnasium, locker room, or outdoor athletic facility with exposure to varying climactic. Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school with varying conditions
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud at times
