Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assess and monitor children's progress and development through observation and documentation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and community events.
- Support children in developing social skills, problem-solving abilities, and self-regulation.
- Address individual children's needs and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and the community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Virginia teaching license or eligibility for licensure in early childhood education.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of children, families, and staff.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the classroom and children.
