Responsibilities
- Review and assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for OB/GYN procedures and services to ensure accurate billing.
- Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems to document diagnoses clearly and precisely in accordance with medical records.
- Manage the entire medical billing cycle, including claim submission, follow-up on unpaid claims, and resolution of denials or rejections.
- Manage OB global billing (antepartum, delivery, postpartum care)
- Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, including documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and patient interactions within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies to maximize accuracy.
- Conduct medical collections efforts by following up on outstanding balances while maintaining excellent patient relations.
- Stay updated on current coding guidelines, insurance policies, and compliance regulations relevant to OB/GYN practices.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing/coding experience (OB/GYN preferred)
- Strong knowledge of OB global billing requirements
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR and practice management systems
- CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent certification preferred
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
