Position Summary:
The Customer Service Representative implements the laboratory and billing mission, goals and objectives by exemplifying the short- and long-term vision, values and goals of the laboratory and billing offices, by providing professional service in the performance of job functions.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Primary responsibility = Be the face of Opus Pathology for all patient/client billing questions meaning all calls/billing requests are handled in a timely and polite manner
- Take and process patient/client payments
- Track and resolve outstanding patient account and payment issues
- Appropriately document all correspondence with patients and clients
- Review EOBs and provide explanations, as needed, for patient billing calls
- Effectively navigate billing clients EMR system to pull notes, medical records and other information to send as requested by outside parties
- Work pre collection report by making phone calls
- Work patient collection accounts by making phone calls
- Other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required - Minimum 1 year customer service experience
- Preferred - Experience in healthcare billing
- Skilled in insurance and patient claims follow up
- Experience in reconsiderations and appeals a plus
- Ability to multitask
- Detail Oriented- attention to detail and accuracy
- Working knowledge in Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and insurance regulations and policies for multiple states a plus
- Experience with insurance portals and claims research a plus
- Skilled in medical terminology a plus
- Understanding of EOB's and Remittance codes a plus
- Skilled in making phone calls on past due patient accounts
