Dynatrace SME / Team Lead (Direct-Hire | Remote)

Overview:

Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial client, is seeking a Dynatrace Subject Matter Expert (SME) / Team Lead to own and lead the enterprise Dynatrace platform within a large-scale financial services environment. This role will serve as the primary technical expert for Dynatrace SaaS, supporting the continued rollout of the platform across hundreds of applications and an environment of 6,000 hosts.

The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on Dynatrace experience within a large enterprise environment, with a strong understanding of platform administration, automation, alerting, tagging, integrations, and observability governance. Experience supporting highly regulated environments, particularly financial services, is highly preferred.

This individual will also lead and mentor a team of six Dynatrace engineers/analysts while partnering with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE teams to establish standards and expand Dynatrace adoption across the organization.

Responsibilities:

Dynatrace Platform Ownership

• Serve as the primary SME and technical owner for the enterprise Dynatrace SaaS platform.
• Design, configure, administer, and optimize Dynatrace across a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Support the rollout and adoption of Dynatrace across hundreds of applications and 6,000 hosts.
• Establish platform standards, governance, naming conventions, tagging strategies, and operational procedures.
• Optimize Dynatrace configuration and instrumentation across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Leverage Dynatrace capabilities for application, infrastructure, and user experience monitoring.

Automation & Enterprise Operations

• Develop and maintain automation to support monitoring at enterprise scale.
• Create and manage alerting profiles, workflows, dashboards, custom metrics, and events.
• Develop tagging strategies to improve organization, ownership, reporting, and monitoring.
• Integrate Dynatrace with enterprise platforms, including ServiceNow.
• Identify opportunities to improve monitoring efficiency, reduce manual effort, and standardize platform operations.
• Support performance analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and incident response.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six Dynatrace engineers/analysts.
• Set priorities, coordinate workloads, and drive delivery of Dynatrace initiatives.
• Establish technical standards and best practices across the team.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor for engineers working with the Dynatrace platform.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to align observability initiatives with business priorities.

Observability & Collaboration

• Partner with application development, DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.
• Drive adoption of full-stack observability across applications and infrastructure.
• Identify monitoring gaps and recommend improvements across critical applications and services.
• Support incident management and post-incident reviews through actionable monitoring data and insights.
• Help establish enterprise-wide observability standards as Dynatrace adoption continues to expand.

Required Qualifications

• 6 years of hands-on Dynatrace experience in large enterprise environments.
• Strong Dynatrace SaaS experience required.
• Proven experience managing Dynatrace across thousands of hosts and/or large application environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise-wide Dynatrace deployments across numerous applications.
• Strong experience with Dynatrace administration, configuration, optimization, and governance.
• Hands-on experience with Alerting profile, Tagging strategies, Dashboards and monitoring configuration, Dynatrace workflows, OneAgent, Application and infrastructure monitoring, Distributed tracing, and Real User Monitoring (RUM).
• Strong automation and operational management experience.
• Experience integrating Dynatrace with ServiceNow or similar enterprise platforms.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising technical teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within large, complex, or highly regulated environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Financial services experience.
• Experience with AppDynamics or migrating from AppDynamics to Dynatrace.
• Experience supporting containerized environments, including Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Dynatrace certification.
• Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Experience developing enterprise observability standards and governance.
