Senior Associate – Network Operations (Full Time, Contract;Onsite in Arlington, Virginia)
Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate – Network Operations. In this role, you’ll be a key part of the Network Operations Center, ensuring the stability and performance of critical systems across mainframe, Windows, Linux, and hybrid environments. You’ll use tools like PRTG and Control-M to monitor services, resolve incidents, and coordinate major outage response with engineering teams and vendors. Your work keeps operations running smoothly while driving improvements in monitoring, automation, and incident management.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor enterprise systems using PRTG and other observability tools, ensuring performance and uptime across mainframe, Windows, and Linux environments.
- Serve as the first responder for system and application incidents—performing initial triage, troubleshooting, and escalation.
- Coordinate major incident management, including engaging on-call teams, vendors, and providing timely stakeholder communications.
- Administer and maintain Control-M enterprise scheduling, migrating jobs to production and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Perform routine system health checks, capacity monitoring, and support hardware/software maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, schedules, processes, and contribute to continuous improvement of monitoring and automation practices.

- 2 years in a NOC or IT Operations environment supporting enterprise production systems
- Hands-on experience with PRTG (or similar monitoring tools) creating and tuning alerts/dashboards
- Experience administering Control-M job scheduling and troubleshooting job failures
- Working knowledge of IBM z/OS mainframe monitoring and basic triage
- Strong incident response background, including first-level triage and coordinating major incidents
- Clear, timely communication during outages, with strong documentation and stakeholder updates
