Network Administrator (On-Site – Johns Creek, GA | Contract- to – Hire)
Overview:
Optomi, in partnership with a leading manufacturing client, is seeking a Network Administrator to join a collaborative infrastructure team supporting a large enterprise network environment. This role is focused on operational support, troubleshooting, and maintaining a complex network infrastructure spanning multiple locations. The ideal candidate enjoys solving networking issues, working through support tickets, and taking ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through resolution.
Initially, this position will focus on reducing a backlog of network support requests. As operational demand decreases, the individual will assist with new site deployments, network migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and process improvements. Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve network support tickets across enterprise environments.
- Administer and support Cisco switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and networking hardware.
- Support and troubleshoot SD-WAN connectivity using platforms such as VeloCloud Orchestrator.
- Configure and maintain Palo Alto firewall environments, including physical, virtual, or cloud deployments.
- Troubleshoot WAN circuits, VPN connectivity, routing issues, and network outages.
- Configure and support IPSEC VPN tunnels and remote connectivity.
- Monitor network performance, connectivity, latency, and hardware health.
- Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for escalated networking incidents.
- Assist with new site deployments, office relocations, and network migration projects.
- Configure replacement networking equipment and coordinate hardware deployments.
- Support enterprise wireless infrastructure and Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC).
- Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures using Visio or similar tools.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, systems, and support teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
- Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and critical outage support when required.
- Help improve documentation, operational consistency, and repeatable network support processes.
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
- Experience administering Cisco switches, routers, and enterprise networking infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing, VLANs, and TCP/IP networking.
- Experience troubleshooting WAN connectivity, routing, switching, and network outages.
- Experience supporting SD-WAN environments (VeloCloud experience is a plus).
- Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience supporting IPSEC VPNs and remote connectivity.
- Experience supporting Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC) and enterprise wireless environments.
- Experience working in a NOC environment or providing Tier 2/Tier 3 network support.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting enterprise data center or multi-site network environments.
- Strong documentation skills, including creating technical network diagrams using Visio or similar tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized with strong ownership, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours and weekend support when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCNA certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting physical, virtual, or cloud-based Palo Alto firewall environments.
- Experience supporting Starlink connectivity.
- Experience supporting enterprise wireless networking and network-attached video surveillance systems.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure implementations, site deployments, or network migrations.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Desire to learn new networking technologies and contribute to process improvements and documentation initiatives.
