Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing exceptional customer service and possess a strong understanding of eyewear fitting and adjustments. As an Optician, you will play a crucial role in helping patients select the right eyewear to meet their vision needs while ensuring compliance with industry standards and much more.
Duties
- Answering phones, scheduling appointments, preparing charts/routers, pulling and verifying insurance, and other office tasks.
- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their prescription and lifestyle needs.
- Perform fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and coding for insurance claims, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including contact lens hygiene and maintenance.
- Collaborate with optometrist to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear fashion, technology, and industry standards.
- Utilize retail math skills for inventory management, sales tracking, and product ordering.
- Conduct specialty testing's as needed on patients per the Optometrist needs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an Optician or in a similar role is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding, and insurance processes is highly desirable.
- Understanding of physiology related to vision care is beneficial.
- Experience with electronic health record systems such as Foxfire/ EMR is advantageous.
- Strong sales skills to effectively promote eyewear products and services.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using optical equipment and computer software.
