Key Responsibilities
- Lead rapid prototyping initiatives, delivering multiple design iterations within aggressive timelines.
- Drive end-to-end development of system assembly processes, including concept selection, prototyping approaches, and tooling/equipment definition for high-precision assembly.
- Partner with external equipment suppliers, contract manufacturers, and integrators to support process development and deployment.
- Execute and support proof-of-concept builds, process validation, and engineering trials.
- Perform and contribute to engineering analyses including FMEA, tolerance stack analysis, failure investigations, and GD&T definition.
- Develop and refine assembly strategies to meet mechanical, optical, and reliability requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and scalability for production readiness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanics, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Solid background in mechanical or optomechanical systems, including hands-on experience with high-precision alignment processes for optical imaging, sensing, or display assemblies.
- Experience designing and developing consumer electronics or high-volume products.
- 3 years of experience using 3D CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent) to work on complex assemblies within a controlled document management environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate with international vendors, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
- Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Experience with NX and/or SolidWorks.
- Background in wearable devices, AR/VR, or compact consumer electronics packaging technologies.
- Experience owning product design from early concept through mass production, especially for cameras, sensors, or optical-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with optical performance metrics (e.g., MTF, contrast, uniformity, luminance).
- Experience designing or prototyping head-mounted displays, optical modules, or benchtop optical test setups.
- Knowledge of precision mounting techniques, component interfaces, and adhesive bonding processes.
- Understanding of automation systems, electrical drivers, and manufacturing equipment operation.
- Experience with structural analysis, stress simulation, and FEA tools.
- Exposure to image processing fundamentals and optical system characterization.
- Experience with metrology tools, gauge R&R, and statistical process control.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on root-cause analysis and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with global teams.
