Our client is seeking a Director of Market Risk to lead risk oversight for a growing power trading platform. This role provides strategic leadership across market risk reporting, analytics, and valuation. You will lead and develop a team while shaping the risk framework, enhancing transparency, and driving the evolution of market risk capabilities across the organization.

- Lead and develop the Market Risk function, including team oversight, priorities, and performance
- Own daily risk and P&L reporting, including attribution, exposure analysis, and executive-level insights
- Oversee physical and financial position reporting across power portfolios (generation, structured deals, and hedging strategies)
- Ensure integrity of trade capture, valuation, and lifecycle management processes
- Drive enhancements to risk analytics, reporting frameworks, and controls
- Partner with Front Office, Middle Office, and Back Office to ensure alignment across the trade lifecycle
- Oversee stress testing, scenario analysis, and key risk metrics (e.g., VaR)
- Support structured transactions through valuation oversight and risk assessment
- Lead initiatives across ETRM systems, including implementation, optimization, and process improvements
- Champion automation and scalability of reporting, analytics, and controls
- 10 years of market risk experience within commodities trading, with a strong focus on power
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and building/scale risk functions
- Deep understanding of physical and financial power markets (ISO exposure, generation, hedging structures)
- Strong knowledge of P&L attribution, valuation methodologies, and risk metrics (VaR, stress testing)
- Advanced analytical and technical skills (Excel, SQL, Python/VBA or similar)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and trading leadership
- Experience working across trading, finance, and technology in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
