Our team is growing. Optimum is hiring a full-time Staff Accountant to help us continue this great work and serve as a key team member in our Accounting Department. The primary purpose of the position is to apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and maintain the integrity of all accounting transactions.


Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for coordinating and processing monthly and quarterly closing processes.


Essential Functions

·      Engage in more critical aspects of assuring timely and accurate monthly close.

·      Assists with the development of annual budgets.

·      Generate monthly intercompany billings.

·      Maintain fixed asset records and record monthly depreciation.

·      Maintain and reconcile prepaid balances.

·      Identify and maintain expense accruals.

·      Manage and process monthly corporate credit card expense program.

·      Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing and execute payroll processing when needed as backup.

·      Assists accounts payable with syncing subcontractors’ commitments, project budgets, and project change orders within various systems.

·      Actively work with other accounting team members to improve the effectiveness of the financial planning and modeling process.

·      Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.

·      Minimum of 2 years experience in a staff accountant role.

·      Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.

·      Demonstrates strong critical and analytical thinking abilities.

·      Proficient in using: Accounting Software (Foundation), CRM systems, and Microsoft Excel.

·      Demonstrates ability to provide a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.

·      Ability to independently prioritize, make timely decisions, and rapidly respond to changes and problems while using Optimum priorities and best practices as guidelines.

·      Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and to adjust to changes in priorities and work plans.

·      Willingness to develop and grow industry professional skills.
