Package: $170,000 – $200,000 meaningful equity

ℹ️ Very Important Notes

• This is a hands-on engineering role - not suitable for architects who haven't been in the weeds recently
• You must be comfortable owning the full infrastructure remit in a startup environment
• High autonomy - you'll be setting direction, not following tickets
• Onsite 4–5 days p/w in NYC

Must-Haves

• 4–7 years of DevOps / infrastructure engineering experience
• Deep Kubernetes expertise - EKS strongly preferred
• Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure-as-code
• CI/CD pipeline ownership and automation from scratch
• AWS - broad, hands-on, production-grade experience
• GitOps workflows and modern deployment practices
• Experience in a VC-backed startup or fast-growth environment
• Strong communication and ability to operate independently

Bonus Experience

• MLOps exposure or working alongside ML engineering teams
• SOC 2 / GDPR compliance infrastructure
• Cybersecurity interest or IAM best practices experience
• Observability stack setup - SLIs, SLOs, incident response
• B2B SaaS background

What You'll Be Doing

Infrastructure Ownership

• Architect and build secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS using IaC
• Convert manual processes into automated, repeatable, GitOps-driven workflows
• Own cloud cost optimisation without compromising performance or reliability

Reliability & Observability

• Stand up and maintain observability stacks — define SLIs and SLOs
• Lead incident response and build a culture of production reliability
• Implement compliance-ready infrastructure with robust secrets management

Collaboration & Enablement

• Work hand-in-hand with backend and ML engineers to accelerate delivery
• Build developer tooling and documentation that removes friction across the team
• Shape DevOps best practices as the company scales

What They're Looking For

A hands-on, high-ownership DevOps engineer who's done this before in a startup. Someone who takes pride in clean infrastructure, moves fast, and doesn't need to be told twice. A builder — not a maintainer.
