THE POSITION

We have an immediate slot open for an experienced, fully self-sufficient Commercial HVAC Journeyman who can take a truck, run service calls independently across Salt Lake County, and execute high-level diagnostics and change-outs with pride in their work. We are looking for our immediate core partner in the field, with the potential to expand our crew further if we connect with exceptional talent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advanced Diagnostics & Service: Perform independent troubleshooting, electrical diagnostics, pipefitting, brazing, and repairs on commercial RTUs, split systems, chillers, boilers, fan coils, and pumps.

• Change-Outs & Upgrades: Lead commercial equipment change-outs, unit replacements, component upgrades, and system overhauls.

• Mentorship & Standards: Set a high standard of mechanical execution and cleanliness on job sites while helping guide younger apprentices in the field.

• Customer & Site Communication: Clearly explain technical issues to facility managers and customers with 100% honesty and professionalism.

• Job Site Cleanliness & Safety: Perform quick job site safety assessments prior to starting work. Maintain high standards of site cleanliness—keep workspaces, trucks, and equipment organized.

• Administrative & Invoicing Integrity: Accurately and promptly log daily timecards, job notes, parts used, and submit customer invoices in draft form to be finalized.

• Direct Communication: Practice open, direct communication with the shop owner—if you hit a snag or obstacle on a job, speak up immediately so we can handle it head-on together.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Technical Mastery: UA Journeyman status or non-union commercial tech with 5 years of service experience. (If hired you will be required to join either local 140 or 312)

• Self-Reliance: Ability to run commercial calls independently.

• High Accountability & Mindset: Strong work ethic, clean job site habits, respect for customer facilities, and direct communication.

• Licensing & Certifications: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (non-negotiable), EPA Universal Certification.

•Clean background and Drug free: Ability to pass background check and random drug tests.
