POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Quality Engineer ensures OptiGrid’s electronics and PCBA products meet requirements across incoming, in-process, and final test. This role partners closely with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to drive defect prevention, improve yield, and strengthen test-data-driven decision making. You will own quality planning for PCBAs and electronic subassemblies, lead investigations and corrective actions, and build clear reporting that enables fast, informed action.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own quality planning and execution for PCBAs and electronics assemblies, including incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final acceptance testing.
- Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, sampling plans, and work instructions in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering.
- Lead nonconformance management including containment, root-cause analysis (5-Why/Fishbone), and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA/8D).
- Partner with manufacturing and test engineering to define pass/fail criteria, limit checks, traceability requirements, and calibration controls.
- Analyze manufacturing and test data to identify trends, drive yield improvement, and prioritize corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of quality engineering experience in electronics manufacturing with direct PCBA exposure.
- Working knowledge of PCBA workmanship standards (IPC-A-610; J-STD-001 a plus).
- Experience with test data analysis, reporting, and presenting results to cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with PCBA test methods such as ICT, functional test, AOI, and X-ray.
- Experience with quality dashboards and data tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar).
- Supplier quality experience with EMS partners and audit support.
- Lean / Six Sigma tools and structured problem-solving methodologies.
