Overview
Optical Filters is a leader in the design and manufacture of display screen products including EMI-shielded windows, optical laminating, display filters and other specialist glass and polycarbonate screens. Based in Meadville, PA for over 20 years, this growing company supplies into the aerospace, commercial instrumentation and defense and security markets.
Optical Filters is seeking a dynamic and experienced Industrial Engineer to join us as Head of Industrial Engineering.
Reporting to the Director of Technology and Quality, you will lead a team in a manufacturing environment, championing innovation and ensuring the highest quality standards. Driving quality back into the process to deliver manufacturing efficiency and productivity, your leadership will be pivotal in managing projects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Location: On-site, Meadville, PA.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engineering strategies to enhance production efficiency and yield.
- Evaluate and resolve manufacturing performance issues and reduce potential NCR’s and field issues.
- Lead a multi-functional team to resolve all technical issues related to design, performance, compliance and capabilities.
- Champion the development and deployment of the systems and tools to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Manage the origination of new documents such as protocols, reports, specifications, and work-instructions
- Mentor and develop engineering staff, promoting professional growth and skill enhancement.
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers as well as internal Sales & Marketing personnel.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new products and processes.
About you:
- You have earned, as a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related science or technical field. Preferably, you may also have a master’s degree
- You are a subject matter expert, with 7 years of progressive engineering and/or technically focused roles and experiences.
- You have a strong technical and problem solving foundation, and preferably training and certifications, in a variety of problem-solving and project management methodologies such as RCA, or similar.
- You work independently as well as collaboratively with cross functional teams.
- You will demonstrate the ability to lead team activities and act as a coach for other less experienced associates.
- Clear and professional communications to all levels of the organization are important in this role and you will have well-developed written and oral communication skills.
- You maintain a calm demeanor that allows you to manage and lead a team through high stress situations that can arise in the production environment.
- You possess a positive, can-do attitude with an underlying belief that failure is not an option.
