Shop & Supply Sales Associate

The Shop & Supply Sales Associate is responsible for supporting daily retail operations within a store specializing in industrial pipe, steel, agricultural products, fencing materials, and related supplies. This role assists customers in person and over the phone, maintains inventory accuracy, supports yard and warehouse activities, and ensures a safe and organized work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist customers with product selection, pricing, and order processing
• Answer incoming phone calls, provide product information, check pricing and availability, and take phone orders as needed
• Provide product knowledge related to pipe, steel, fencing, hardware, and agricultural supplies
• Operate point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash, credit card, and account transactions accurately
• Prepare customer orders for pickup, including pulling, staging, and loading materials
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (as assigned)
• Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against purchase orders
• Stock shelves, maintain yard organization, and ensure merchandise is properly labeled
• Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate stock records
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe retail floor and yard area
• Follow all company safety procedures and policies
• Work collaboratively with yard, warehouse, and management staff to meet customer needs
• Perform other general labor duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of industrial or agricultural products preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills (in-person and phone)
• Ability to perform basic math for measurements, pricing, and order calculations
• Ability to operate material handling equipment (or willingness to learn)
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail and yard environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 75 pounds
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse or yard environment

Work Environment:

• Retail store connected to warehouse and outdoor yard
• Exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions
• Interaction with contractors, farmers, and industrial customers
