What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL LABORER position at OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE?
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Events Operations Manager, the Events General Laborer is responsible for setup, strike and general maintenance of the Magical Forest, including general repairs, installation and maintenance of displays and lighting and general duties involving physical handling of product, materials, supplies and equipment, as well as safely operating amusement rides, attractions and games during hours the Magical Forest is open to the public.
There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours.
This is a seasonal position from approximately August 2026 to January 2027, supporting the Magical Forest and other seasonal events held by Opportunity Village.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform general setup, strike, maintenance, prop & display handling and installation, minor carpentry, LED lighting installation & removal, painting, and groundskeeping.
- Execute Camelot Hall banquet and event room setup and strike, including equipment transportation, organization, and storage.
- Safely use conventional hand tools and groundskeeping equipment, such as, but not limited to, a hammer, electric drill, rake, shovel, and leaf blower.
- If requested by the Events Operations Manager, safely operate simple power tools and carpentry equipment after the completion of OSHA 10 certification.
- Maintain an orderly, clean, and secure work area and equipment in compliance with company safety and sanitation requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service to patrons by directing them to rides, seats, and attractions.
- Restock and replenish supplies.
- Report any safety or security issues to the Events Operations Manager and OV Events team members, such as the Manager-on-duty or Security.
- Report any maintenance or items in need of repair to the Events Operations Manager.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately, as mandated by state law.
- May be assigned other duties as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist and train volunteers assigned to areas of HallOVeen and the Magical Forest, if requested.

(Based on specific training criteria, being certified and signed off by Events Operations Manager)
- Ability to use hand tools competently and safely.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Required: One (1) year of verifiable work experience.
- Preferred: Current Driver's License
- Preferred: Forklift and high lift certification plus, able to obtain forklift and high lift certifications.
- Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.
- If requested: Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES & WORK ENVIRONMENT
