WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Property Management Assistant position is an entry-level property management opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a professional career in affordable housing serving vulnerable and marginalized people. As the Property Management Assistant gains experience, knowledge, and skills it is expected that they will advance into a position in property management or similar position within the affordable housing field. They are responsible for the facilitation of program applications, leases, recertification, associated documentation, and reporting. The Property Management Assistant provides support for HDPM team including data entry, data analysis, inspections, lease enforcement, scheduling and coordination.


WORK SCHEDULE:

M-F, 8am-5pm


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with processing leasing related applications including Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC). May include meeting with prospective residents.
  • Assists with preparation and processing of annual program recertification paperwork with residents, including Low- Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), HUD HOME, and Continuum of Care grants.
  • Assists in the preparation of program and funder compliance reports, regular unit inspections and special projects as needed.
  • Collaborates with staff across the agency and with community partners as needed.
  • Assists with accounts receivable and payable. Includes entering rent and subsidy payments, entering rent encumbrances, and processing invoices.
  • Reviews and reports daily log concerns and assists with lease enforcement and legal proceedings such as evictions and serving legal notices.
  • Attends staff meetings, prepares staff meeting minutes and distributes staff meeting minutes to staff members.
  • Maintains an accurate, organized digital and hard-copy recordkeeping system.
  • Assists with clerical office duties as needed, including preparing correspondence and handling prospective resident inquiries.
  • Participates in a constructive manner during staff meetings and all other forms of correspondence.
  • Cross-trains with property managers and provides backup support for other staff members.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • BA/BS in Business Management, Human Services, Social Work, or related field, OR year for year equivalent education/experience.
  • At least one year experience in Human or Social Services field providing direct client services, preferably handling issues related to homelessness, mental illness, and/or chemical dependency.
  • At least one year experience in customer service or similar work, which may be same year of Human or Social Services field work identified above.
  • Experience with residential property management and related services preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and five-year driving history within Opportunity Council’s Auto Insurance Standards.
