OhioGuidestone’s Youth Residential Campus provides out-of-home care for boys and girls with complex trauma, mental health needs, academic struggles, and severe emotional and behavioral concerns, which prevent them from living safely at home. OhioGuidestone staff work with in tandem with placing agencies and caregivers to transition youth back into permanent living situations.

This seasonal position offers a Monday-Friday schedule from 7:30am-3:30pm from June 1st- August 19th, with the possibility of a permanent position following summer.

Essential Functions: 

  • Works as an integral member of the Residential Treatment team. This responsibility necessitates building and maintaining strong, nurturing relationships with the residents and staff of the Residential Treatment Center (RTC); observing professional boundaries at all times; effectively communicating with all; and proving leadership in advocacy and support for residents in care.
  • Supervises residents in their care assuring that a safe and therapeutic environment is maintained, during assigned shift.
  • Handles emergency situations such as environmental, weather related, physical injury.
  • Provides crisis intervention to residents according to residential treatment center policies and procedures.
  • Develops and consistently implements structured routines for daily functioning, including wake-up, hygiene, meals, activities and bedtime.
  • Plans and organizes activities and educational groups for residents which promote change and growth in areas of social skill building, and physical, emotional and mental development, according to treatment plans.
  • Implements activities consistent with Brain Building model for treatment.
  • Completes all required documentation, which could be electronic or paper. This includes CIR’s and all mandatory logs; included but not limited to the following, daily logs, night logs, communication logs, USDA logs and any other required documentation.
  • Completes all required training prior to deadline, both in person and online through the agency’s learning management system.
  • Correctly utilizes PAARR and PAARR physical techniques at all times.
  • Maintains active status in all required certifications and trainings.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
  • Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and present the agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts. 

 Performance/Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is performed in a residential cottage and wherever residents go on the surrounding campus and in the community.
  • Ability to physically restrain residents whose ages, heights and weights vary
  • Driver’s license with safe driving record in accordance with agency policy
  • English reading and writing skills
  • Interacts verbally with residents, families, co-workers and representatives from outside agencies
  • Attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays
  • Team player
  • PAARR and PAARR physical training is an essential function of the position and must be completed to the satisfaction of the instructor. 

 Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  Bachelor’s degree in a Social Service field and experience working with the adolescent population is preferred.
  • In accordance with licensing guidelines, all Treatment Specialists must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance
  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test, and drug screening

 

 At OhioGuidestone we care about the health and safety of our employees. OhioGuidestone requires applicants to complete a pre-employment screening process upon receipt of an offer of employment. We require and cover the cost of a fingerprint background screening, physical, Tuberculosis test, and drug screen after an employment offer is made. Any employment offer is contingent upon receipt of all satisfactory pre-employment screenings.
