About the Internship

We are seeking an Engineering Project Management Intern to support manufacturing and engineering projects within a die casting production environment. This internship is ideal for students interested in engineering, manufacturing operations, and project management who want hands-on experience working on real projects that impact safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

You will work closely with engineers, supervisors, and cross‑functional team members on active shop‑floor initiatives—not just observation or shadowing.

What You’ll Do

  • Support planning and execution of manufacturing and engineering projects
  • Track project timelines, milestones, action items, and risks
  • Coordinate communication between engineering, operations, maintenance, and quality teams
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, schedules, and status reports
  • Assist with meeting agendas, notes, and follow‑up actions
  • Analyze basic production or project data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement, process optimization, and engineering change initiatives
  • Spend time on the manufacturing floor to understand and develop processes, assist in sampling and create operator instructions.

What You’ll Learn

  • How engineering and manufacturing projects operate in a die casting plant
  • Practical project management skills used in industrial environments
  • How to communicate and coordinate across engineering and production teams
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows
  • How continuous improvement projects are identified, tracked, and executed

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in:
    • Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
    • Engineering Management
    • Operations, Supply Chain, or a related technical field
  • Strong organization and time‑management skills
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on, manufacturing environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in project management and manufacturing leadership
  • Experience with team projects, capstone work, or internships
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools (Excel, Smartsheet, MS Project, Jira, etc.)
  • Exposure to manufacturing, machining, or metal casting environments
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement coursework (a plus)

What We Offer

  • Paid internship with real project ownership
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers and project leaders
  • Meaningful, resume‑ready manufacturing project experience
  • Exposure to engineering operations in a high‑impact production setting
  • Opportunity to be considered for future internships or full‑time roles
