What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior AP/JIB Accountant position at Opportune?
Position Description:
The Sr AP/JIB Accountant will serve as a key member of the AP/JIB team and will be responsible for processing well related and G&A accounts payable invoices, account transactions, vendor reconciliations, and journal entries as needed. This person will also be responsible for multiple client’s Joint Interest monthly close. This position is in our Northwest Houston, Texas office with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Reviewing invoices for proper approvals and coding
- Research and reconcile vendor accounts to statements and client prepared manual check register to accounting system check register
- Review and confirm set-up of new vendors in accounting system
- Responsible for reviewing assigned company’s monthly closing calendar and meeting clients closing schedule deadlines
- Assist with client/employee training as needed
- Reconcile monthly AP sub ledger and tie out to the general ledger, provide monthly documentation to Manager
- Set up and maintain billing allocation tables and overhead charges
- Keep Manager informed on client/joint interest issues, requests, and projects
- Consult with Manager regarding invoice/billing issues
- Process client’s non-operated invoices based upon client’s closing schedule
- Research and respond to working interest owner’s inquiries regarding billings
- Prepare analysis of owner accounts and well costs for monthly reporting as well as any special requests
- Provide detailed expense and capital analysis as needed
- AFE set-up and maintenance
- Process cost center rebills as needed
- Reconcile monthly netting accounts
Qualifications:
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum 10 years of oil and gas JIB experience along with accounts payable experience.
- Must have strong professional presence and effective verbal/written communication.
- Exceptional time-management, planning and administrative skills are required.
- Proficiency with BOLO, DocVue, EnergyLink, OpenInvoice and Quorum is preferred.
- Ability to learn new accounting software as needed.
