Position Summary

The Administrator is responsible for the overall management, leadership, and operations of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (AAAHC) and Medicare Deemed Status. The Administrator ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance and effective communication among physicians, staff, and the governing body.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operational Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the ASC to ensure safe, efficient, and effective delivery of patient care
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures consistent with AAAHC, IDPH, CMS, and OSHA standards
  • Ensure the facility maintains readiness for all regulatory and accreditation inspections.
  • Supervise scheduling, supply management, and patient flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with IDPH licensure requirements, CMS Conditions for Coverage, and AAAHC accreditation standards
  • Oversee infection prevention and control, safety, and emergency preparedness programs
  • Maintain accurate and timely submission of all required reports (IDPH, NHSN, HARP, Vaccine, COVID reporting, etc.)
  • Financial and Business Oversight
  • Participate in contracting, vendor negotiations, and purchasing decisions
  • Human Resources and Staff Development
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate ASC staff to ensure high performance and compliance with policies
  • Maintain personnel files, credentials, and competency documentation
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Medical Staff Relations
  • Serve as liaison between the governing body, medical staff, and employees
  • Support credentialing, privileging, and peer review processes
  • Facilitate medical staff meetings and performance improvement initiatives
  • Quality and Risk Management
  • Direct quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) programs
  • Review and analyze incident reports, patient satisfaction data, and outcome measures
  • Implement corrective action plans when necessary


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in an ASC or healthcare facility
  • In-depth knowledge of ASC operations, AAAHC and IDPH regulations, and Medicare Conditions for Coverage
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, reporting platforms (e.g., HARP, NHSN)


Licensure/Certification

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois preferred but not required


Work Environment

  • Office and clinical environment within an ambulatory surgery center
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff
