What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Aquatic Custodian - Natatorium position at OPERATIONS?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work unique hours – days, nights, weekends and holidays

- Ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English
- Knowledge of working with scrubbing machines and other cleaning equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry loads of approximately 75 lbs.
- Ability to work on slippery or uneven walking surfaces around pool decks and on ladders.
- Must have a comfortability to work around a pool/water daily.
- Ability to work in a setting with exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals and materials.
- Three (3) years of experience in custodial work is preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an aquatic custodian or supervisory experience preferred
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
260 days
SALARY/PAYGRADE:
$15.15/HS-4
Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the daily cleaning of the Natatorium by directing and monitoring the work of the other aquatic custodian(s).
- Train other aquatic(s) custodian in the proper cleaning procedures of the Natatorium and the maintenance of the custodial equipment used.
- Establish and assign a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, pool deck, bulkhead, starting blocks, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, and equipment.
- Clean all areas of building including meeting room, offices, restrooms, pool deck, locker rooms, lobby and stands.
- Establish a cleaning schedule to keep the Natatorium and grounds, including sidewalks, steps, and parking lots neat and clean.
- Vacuum, spot treat and shampoo carpets as directed.
- Establish a schedule to maintain all stainless steel, to limit rust build-up.
- Sweep, mop, scrub hard surface floors as directed.
- Disinfect in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health and safety of students and staff.
- Assist Aquatic Staff in set-up and tear down of all events held in the Natatorium.
- Open and close building as directed.
- Move, unpack and stock supplies as directed.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Director.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequently walking, standing, bending, and lifting. Working in a sometimes warm/humid environment.
