What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utilities Technician position at Operational Technical Services?
We are seeking a skilled Meter Backflow Technician to support the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of water meters and backflow prevention devices throughout Manatee County. This role plays a critical part in protecting public water systems by identifying and correcting cross-connections and ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, repair, and test water meters and backflow prevention devices.
- Inspect water systems for illegal cross-connections between potable and non-potable water supplies.
- Maintain pressure regulating valves and related equipment.
- Complete documentation, reports, and data entry to support compliance requirements.
- Operate work vehicles, tools, and light equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with traffic control and job site safety during field operations.
Required Qualifications
- Water Distribution Level 3 License.
- FWPCOA or TREEO Backflow Testing and Backflow Repair Certifications.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of establishing residency.
