Job Description
Directly Reports to: Administrative Director
Indirectly Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
Hourly rate: $25/hour, maximum 40 hours per week
Location: Operation Shoestring, 1711 Bailey Avenue, Jackson, MS 39203
Dates: Starting August 3, 2026
Time: Monday- Friday from 1:30 pm- 5:30 pm
Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A, B, or C license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements as required by state law
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Previous experience driving a passenger or school bus preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and emergency procedures
JOB SUMMARY:
The bus driver is responsible for safely transporting students and staff to and from program sites, schools, field trips, and approved activities. The driver must operate a 30 passenger bus in compliance with all state traffic laws, safety regulations, and organizational policies while maintaining a safe and orderly environment for all passengers.
The ideal bus driver is also responsible for ensuring the vehicle is clean, safe, and properly inspected before and after routes, including adherence to all required safety checks and reporting any maintenance concerns promptly. The bus driver must be able to perform emergency evacuation procedures if necessary, and detail-oriented individual with strong physical stamina (able to lift 30 lbs.).
