The Grant Writer helps keep Operation Safe Escape's work possible by securing the funding behind it. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit, and every service we provide is free to the survivors who need it. But we can only do the work when the resources are there to support it. This role helps us do that.
We're looking for an experienced writer who can turn our mission into a compelling, well-researched, and fundable proposal. You will identify opportunities, tell our story with clarity and evidence, and give funders every reason to say yes. Experience writing grant applications for domestic violence or advocacy organizations is desired but not required. Strong grant writing skill travels well, and we will help you learn the specifics of our world.

What The Role Looks Like
- Researches and identifies grant opportunities from foundations, government programs, corporate giving, and other funding sources.
- Writes clear, persuasive, and well-structured grant applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting narratives.
- Works with the team to gather the data, outcomes, and stories that make a proposal compelling.
- Tracks deadlines, requirements, and submissions so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Assists with reporting and follow-up for awarded grants to keep us in good standing with funders.
- Helps build a repeatable, sustainable grant pipeline over time.
- (Desired but not required) assist with managing captured grants in accordance with funder requirements.
- Demonstrated experience writing successful grant applications or proposals.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to be clear, persuasive, and precise.
- Strong research skills for finding and qualifying funding opportunities.
- Organization and reliability, especially around deadlines and requirements.
- Ability to translate mission and impact into language that resonates with funders.
- (Desired but not required) Experience writing grants for domestic violence or advocacy organizations
- Familiarity with the challenges faced by survivors of abuse, stalking, and trafficking is a plus.
