Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Technician II
We are sourcing for an experienced Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Technician II to join our client’s maintenance team. This position is responsible for performing instrument and electrical maintenance in a process manufacturing environment while ensuring equipment reliability, plant safety, and operational efficiency.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve plant equipment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
Instrument & Electrical Maintenance
- Install, repair, maintain, and replace electrical and instrumentation equipment throughout the facility.
- Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair a wide variety of instrumentation and electrical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities and accurately document maintenance history.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repair of PLC and Yokogawa control systems.
- Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Plan maintenance activities and assist with spare parts inventory management.
- Track equipment downtime, repairs, overhauls, and preventive maintenance records.
- Support plant shutdowns and planned maintenance outages.
- Coordinate maintenance work with operations to minimize downtime.
- Perform emergency and unplanned repairs as needed, including overtime when required.
- Maintain maintenance shops, work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Leadership & Team Support
- Mentor and train Level I I&E Technicians.
- Assist in planning maintenance activities alongside senior technicians.
- Support contractors and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 4–6 years of experience performing Instrument & Electrical maintenance in a process manufacturing, chemical, industrial, refinery, or similar environment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working with PLC and industrial control systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with:
- Electrical testing equipment (VOM, Megger, Clamp Meter, etc.)
- Instrument calibration equipment
- Hart Communicators
- Pneumatic hand pumps
- Industrial electrical wiring tools
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized maintenance systems.
Certifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- NCCER Craft Certification (or equivalent)
- Confined Space Training
- Experience leading contractors
- Experience training and mentoring junior technicians
